Byran and I decided we wanted to do something fun this year for our 3rd Anniversary so we made plans to have a staycation over the weekend, with a mini trip to Park City on Saturday Night. It was so nice to relax and not have to worry about school, or work for a couple of days…
We started our staycation on Friday. We relaxed, and spent time together. Then on Friday evening we went to the Circus. Byran hadn’t been to the circus since he was 14, and it’d been a little while for me too. It was a lot of fun. I loved the elephants!
Then on Saturday we made reservations and stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in Park City. It was amazing. They upgraded us to the loft suite and it was HUGE. It had 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a living room, full size kitchen, 4 fireplaces, flat screens in every room (even the bathrooms), jetted tubs, and huge showers… needless to say it was a little excessive but so lovely. After we got settled in we watched a couple of movies on HBO, drank some wine, and got ready for dinner.
We ate at the Riverhorse and it was so good. The service was amazing, and the food was delicious. I ordered the wild game trio which was Elk, Venice, and Buffalo with cheesey grits… it was an unusual choice for me but so good. Byran ordered the Rib-Eye steak with a baked cheese potato which was also very good. For desert we had a an caramel, cinnamon, apple cake, with vanilla ice cream accompanied by a desert wine tasting. Although the wine was a little too sweet for me, the desert might have been the best thing I’ve ever tasted. It was heavenily.
After dinner we had a drink at the No-Name Saloon while we waited for the shuttle. When we got back to the hotel we decided to go swimming, and sit in the hot tub which was a lot of fun. We raced each other in the swimming pool (I won of course!) and Byran did 5 front flips in a row, quite a feat. Then we watched some more movies and went to sleep. In the morning we ordered room service, checked out, and headed back to Salt Lake.
It was such a great weekend, I am sad it had to come to an end. Now its 8:14pm and I am heading to work in 20 minutes…aww let the hectic week begin. Thank goodness fall break is in a couple weeks! I can make it, I can make it, I can make it, ….
